Also, do the clearances allow for true bi-level cars (vs. the Kawasaki ones they run now)? I know they run Superliners under the wire (briefly) in DC, but I don’t know if they maintain that clearance all the way to Sunnyside, or if the Hudson/East River tunnels are restrictive of that.

The clearance on the NEC is 14 ft 6 inches so unfortunately it can’t accommodate superliners.
